Ralph Stanley made an album that included John Duffey doing a great mandolin turnaround intro to "The Fields Have Turned Brown". It was bright and intense. This is an attempt to get the feel of that break on the guitar.
This is not a note-for-note copy of the mandolin break. It takes into account the differences in mandolin and guitar fingering. In the mandolin version, there is a long tremolo across measures 3 and 4, and the pull offs in measure 6 are slides. The vocal starts on the last beat of measure 13. The strings covered by the strums are just approximations.
